Abstrak

Bermain papan seluncur di zaman modern saat ini dianggap menjadi aktivitas karena hubungannya terhadap pengelolaan ruang yang dapat dipergunakan secara individu maupun kolektif oleh komunitas tertentu. Dalam proses perkembangan papan seluncur, komunitas spesifik akan memfungsikan ruang sebagai penanda diri yang berhubungan dengan identitas mereka. Artikel ini menjelaskan cara-cara Komunitas Patriot Skate Club 95 Kota Bekasi menghubungkan kelompok mereka dengan ruang di sekitar tempat mereka berada untuk memaknai identitas secara individu ataupun kolektif. Dengan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan etnografi, penelitian ini dilakukan melalui proses wawancara tidak terstruktur dan pendekatan literatur sehingga menghasilkan pemahaman berbeda mengenai ruang, komunitas dan identitas. Hasil temuan kami adalah, bahwa penggiat papan seluncur memahami tersedianya ruang publik sebagai sarana yang dapat dinikmati secara individu atau kolektif. Argumen kami adalah mempertanyakan kembali mengenai konstruksi identitas anak muda akan keberadaan mereka dalam ruang publik di Kota Bekasi. Dengan komunitas Patriot Skate Club 95 sebagai objeknya, mereka terhubung dengan ruang-ruang di sekitarnya, memanfaatkan ruang publik untuk membangun identitas individu maupun kokektif mereka, dan menumbuhkan rasa memiliki dari para anggotanya.

Muhammad Adib Al-Fikri, Universitas Padjadjaran

Muhammad Adib Al-Fikri, lahir di Jakarta 25 Juni 1996. Seorang mahasiswa magister kajian budaya FIB Unpad yang saat ini sedang melakukan tugas akhir. Dan dengan melakukan publikasi di Metahumaniora, semoga dimudahkan prosesnya.
